Matroushka quilt in progress

Although it is not finished, I do want to show you how my matrouska quilt is developing.

It's not going to be a large quilt, but it will be a cosy one! And I'm using only old Dutch Sits fabrics.

There are three more pieces that need to be finished and sewn on the quilt.
I have to buy more fabric for the binding and for the backside. And after sewing it al together I want to needlequilt it of course.

My mother gave me this sits fabric ones with these beautiful borders. As you can see I used the smal borders in between. I'm going to use the large border as a finishing border. So to be continued again!

    Can you describe what is 'Dutch sits' fabric? I'm not familiar with it.

  6. Oooh hij wordt helemaal geweldig. Ik heb nog nooit van Sits stoffen gehoord en ik zie dat ik niet de enige ben. Misschien stof voor een volgende keer? ;-)

  8. Wat prachtig die Russische dametjes in oer Hollandse stofjes.De kleuren passen zo goed bij ze.

  11. Ik vind het heel mooi, Heleen. Gelukkig hoef je voor extra stof niet meer helemaal naar Amsterdam of maak je er een dagje uit van?

  16. Ach wat wordt dit toch een leuke quilt. Hollandse sits en dan de matoushka's. Sits is toch een typisch Nederlandse stof? Werd dat niet gebruikt voor bepaalde klederdrachten?
    Het wordt in ieder geval prachtig!
