In the news there is a lot going on about Financial banking problems etc. and it can maybe effect us all in the near future. Well I’m not so much into financial stuff, but if it will get real bad look what I found:
"New from old"
"New dungarees from dadies old trousers"
"From mothers old coat, A new pair of trousers and jacket for the jongest."
"Nice suit for 13 year old" (made from a eveningdress)
As you can see I'm prepared!.... Although I wonder if my almost 13 year old daugther will appreciate a new suit........ Until then I have this jacket...
And mittens, cap, hat, and bag..
I realy love these old books!(I hope you like the what shall I wear nr.5)
SO cute. :-) i betyour mother made something new for you out of something old.. didn't she? My mom did. When I was 6 years old she made my winter coat from her old wool cape. it was very itchy! Loved your post. And your "new clothes" :-)
Groetjes!
I can hardly wait to see the whole quilt. It looks great so far! Making new stuff from old is something that has not kept up with the times. But with a global recession looming, a book like that may become useful once again. My Dutch grandmother used to unravel all our outgrown sweaters, wash the yarn and then reknit it into something new.
Love the patchworked clothes!! Such a fun project.
I wore old clothes made into something ‘new’ too... and all my big sisters dresses who was 6 years older. I didn’t like it at all, so I learned to make my own clothes at a very young age.
My mum even knitted my first bathing suite, from wool.. imagine when I walked into the sea.. it was hanging on my feet and I felt sooo ashamed and it was so itchy!
SO cute. :-)
