Dutch fabric quiltje

Last saterday we had one of those rare 'not have to drive and support my kids to their sports' saterday! So a good reason to go to Alkmaar in search of new fabrics and inspiration!
corry and me found typical Dutch fabrics and some lovely Room seven fabrics. Unfortunately they don't sell fabrics in the Oilily outlet anymore....

But still a great collection!

Now I've been wanting to make a little easy Dutch fabric quiltje for a while.
And today I finally had some time to start sewing.

Of course it isn't finished yet, there will be a border around it and I want to quilt it with rather large stitches. I also have been thinking about washing the quilt when it is finished.... what do you think?

    Heerlijke stofjes weer! Wat goed dat je er alweer iets van gemaakt hebt. En leuk ook! Bij mij kan alles eindeloos op stapels liggen, daar geniet ik trouwens ook van, maar jij en je zus lijken van die kordate types die in plaats van zitten te dromen, hup aan de slag gaan!
    Je begreep natuurlijk al dat je aan mij niet hoeft te vragen wanneer je zo'n quiltje moest wassen...

    Hi Heleen - I just love your blog. This post of all the new fabric and your new quilt is beautiful.

    I think you should wash the quilt when it is finished. Let us know how it goes.

    *GASP* there exists an Oilily outlet? and they used to sell fabric there? that may have put quite a dent in my pocketbook.

    Wat een geweldige stofjes heb je gebruikt voor je quilt. De laatste tijd was ik mijn quiltwerk na het afwerken en ik doe ze zelfs even op een niet te heet programma in de droogtrommel. De deken is dan meteen lekker zacht en het stugge nieuwe is er vanaf. Ook de rand is dan een beetje bobbelig, maar op een gezellige manier! Als je gaat wassen zou ik eerst even van alle lapjes een klein stukje in een sopje doen om te kijken of er niets afgeeft. Ik had laatst toch wat rood doorlopen lapjes in mijn kerstquiltje. Gelukkig is het haast niet te zien maar als je het weet dan blijf het je toch opvallen. Jammer dat de outlet geen stoffen meer verkoopt. de laatste tijd lagen er ook al heel lang dezelfde, niet zo erg aantrekkelijke stoffen. Toen de outlet nog langs een gracht was in Alkmaar hadden ze echt een enorme hoeveelheid stoffen te koop. Maar Room seven heeft gelukkig nog mooie stofjes te koop!

    Lovely fabrics! And your quilt is looking good! So that is what Dutch fabric looks like. I love it! I was in Holland about 6 or 7 years ago (in Arnhem were I was born) and I only found one small fabric shop that had terrible prices! Needless to say, I didn't buy anything while I was there.

    first of all - i do love your dutch quiltje!! it´s amazing!

    ...and second: they do not sell fabric at the oilily outlet any longer - WHY???? i´m so unhappy about that... me the biggest oilily-fabric-fan ever :( so i have to keep my oilily fabrics as a treasure...
