Kitsch?

A little time ago, on a rainy day, I went to a fleamarket. And for a few Euro's I bought this romantic stitchery!

stitchery

Yes, I know it's terribly kitsch... but still I couldn't resist.
It has been standing in the livingroom, evoking all kind off remarks, untill today.

This afternoon I pulled it of its frame,

And throw it away!

No no no off course not...I came up with the Idea to (maybe) make a bag out of it! So I draped it over another bag..

a new bag?

Well, what do you think? will it be to much?

  1. I like it. I hope the fabric is still good enough, not too used to use it as a bag

  7. Groetjes uit Cyprus! I love your blog and have enjoyed your trip to Zeeland immensely. But this idea is totally brilliant: Goed zo! I never thought kitsch could be rescued so cleverly: You have thought me to open my eyes and see things differently, thanks!

  11. No. It should be beautiful. I have had the same idea myself only theembroideries I have are all long stitch and would catch and pull. This cross stitch should be great for a special bag. Cherrie

  13. Your bag looks fab!-- I love the needlework design in all its kitschyness!...I collect finished needlework as well and have also made a few bags with them....my collection is getting rather big though now -- so, I either make a whole bunch of bags or a rug with all of the different pieces sewn together (I saw that somewhere a while back and it looked great!)

  16. Geweldig idee! De vrouw die het ooit borduurde zou je dankbaar kunnen zijn dat het weer gebruikt wordt voor iets. Weggooien kan altijd nog.

  19. Love it! Make sure you use a strong lining fabric though so the stitches don't get worn from the inside. What a fab idea!
