Today I found a beautiful old perfect 'stoplapje', I don't know the English word for it. Girls and women made these, to practice special stitches for repairing clothes and linnen.
It is only 15 cm big and made with extreme small stitches.
I really love it!
Another treasure are these Dutch plates with drawings off folk clothes.
There are also cups and plates... Hope I can show them another time.

Die borden hadden wij vroeger ook , volgens mij kon je die sparen bij een bepaald merk of bij Albert Heijn ofzo ???

ReplyDeleteToen vond ik ze maar heel gewoontjes, nu zou ik er iets voor over hebben om ermee te kunnen pronken in mijn keukenkast.
Leuke aanwinsten weer, kofferbakmarkt??? Ik vind vooral dat stoplapje helemaal geweldig. Ik heb wel wat merklappen. Mijn oom vond eens een hele serie wit op wit borduursel en knoopsgaten, ook leuk. Altijd goed blijven zoeken dus. Op school is zo'n laatste week toch altijd ook heel speciaal en hoewel ik me goed kan voorstellen dat jullie daar heel erg naar de vakantie uitkijken, wil ik je toch een hele fijne laatste week toewensen.
ReplyDeleteIn the USA they call it a 'sampler'. The old ones usually have the ABC and a picture all done in different stitches. They are very sort after and some are very expensive.

Yep the stitchery would be called a "sampler". I love the bordjes, typishce Nederlands. I would have also bought them for collecters items. I have been to Marken, Volendam, such cute dorpjes! Prettige Zondag

ReplyDeleteI have a "sampler" which my grandma made in school (in Copenhagen) it is also done in red and blue ... and while theoretically just a lesson in some utilitarian skills it is a thing of beauty which I treasure.

Een stoplapje in het Engels is een Darning Sampler, maar.... dit is geen stoplap maar een lapje in tapisseriewerk (de gekleurde randen) en open naaiwerk (de hoeken)
