Hidden treasure

Can't show any new sewing.... my Pfaffie is out to a treatment disturbs That was promissed and verry necessary.
So instead I thought it's time to show you a hidden treasure.
The sweetest doll ever made,

Pongratz baby doll

The doll is made by Elisabeth Pongratz
She has a sweet wooden head and a soft body.

Pongratz baby doll

Her little crochet hat and the sweet knitted socks and underpants are made by her grandmother,

I'm still saving to buy her a sweet sister or brother...

Treasures,

Time to show a few treasures,
Today I found a beautiful old perfect 'stoplapje', I don't know the English word for it. Girls and women made these, to practice special stitches for repairing clothes and linnen.

antique 'stoplapje'

It is only 15 cm big and made with extreme small stitches.

I really love it!
Another treasure are these Dutch plates with drawings off folk clothes.

There are also cups and plates... Hope I can show them another time.

Kitsch?

A little time ago, on a rainy day, I went to a fleamarket. And for a few Euro's I bought this romantic stitchery!

stitchery

Yes, I know it's terribly kitsch... but still I couldn't resist.
It has been standing in the livingroom, evoking all kind off remarks, untill today.

stitchery

This afternoon I pulled it of its frame,

And throw it away!

No no no off course not...I came up with the Idea to (maybe) make a bag out of it! So I draped it over another bag..

a new bag?

Well, what do you think? will it be to much?

What is in a box and fat quarter swap!

what's in a box

My husband always wears a cotton blouse. And since I can’t remember when, I saved all his worn out blouses, with the thought to make a quilt from them.

Now you most not think I always choose his blouses, with the thought in my mind ‘that print will do great in the quilt’. But very rarely I bring him a new blouse that ‘accidentally’ may have a the right color and print for the quilt.
Later the idea came up to make it into a family quilt. So I searched for all kind of photo’s , and with transform paper, printed them on cotton fabric.

In daddies blouse

My intention was to finish this quilt this winter! Unfortunately I have to say this is the first time this box is opened this winter…….. I know I still have time before the winter is ending.

Fat quarter swap!
Look how great this swap turned out!

Katy send me these beautyfull fabrics and spoiled me with a Oilily soap!
Thank you katy!

This was a great swap! Thanks katy for organizing it!

spoiled last schoolday.

At the end of every schoolyear my colleague and I give each other a little gift, for another good year working together! And this time she spoiled me with this:

oilily tin collection

a little Oilily soap tin. And while I was putting this tin with the other tins I realized I never showed you my oilily tins and boxes.. so here they are!

I love the bright colours and they each have their own use.
There are more but they are spread over the house.

At the end of the schoolyear our school kids spoil us to, they give us cards, drawings, candy, flowers and this beautifull rose,

http://dutch-colours.blogspot.com/

Of course this is a strange thing, teaching is our profession, we get payed for it! But it does make me feel good and so spoiled.

Did I show you this completely finished little birdquilt? I finally finished the binding.

little bird quilt

so another finished project!

Good day's to all of you!

What's in a box: 3

Well, I want to make a new bag, but somehow I can't get inspired to do it.
So therefore the next 'what's in a box'!

cross stitching sampler

No this is not a box whit letters...it was...

cross stitching sampler

For a while I use it to put the sampler in which I'm working on at the moment. (I must confess there are more boxes with unfinished samplers)

cross stitching sampler

For each child I wanted to make a sampler. The two samplers for the oldest are hanging in our living for years. But the last one....
Anyway I promissed to have it finished before he's grown up and living on his own.

cross stitching sampler

Instead of making a new bag or working at this sampler, I'm handsewing this..

matroushka quiltje 005

and this...

matroushka quiltje 008

to make a little new matroushka applique quilt. So that is another project to finish.
