Books and bags

Whauw, time flighs when your having fun! (or being very busy)
When I was at the library my eye saw these books in a little corner,

boek phpThumb

Now most of you quilters are probably familiar with all the story's and books she wrote. But for me they are new and after finishing the first, I am curious what will happen in the next 'Elm Creek' quilters! But I only allow myself to read before sleeping or my new bags will not be finished before autumn.
Here a peek of the new bags....

sept. 08 004

I want to make three bags in this style.

And at last I want to show you this,

They are great to complete my matroushka collection! Altough, is a collection ever complete?

Have a great week everyone,

Matroushka quilt in progress

Although it is not finished, I do want to show you how my matrouska quilt is developing.

matroushka quiltje 001

It's not going to be a large quilt, but it will be a cosy one! And I'm using only old Dutch Sits fabrics.

matroushka quiltje 007

There are three more pieces that need to be finished and sewn on the quilt.
I have to buy more fabric for the binding and for the backside. And after sewing it al together I want to needlequilt it of course.

matroushka quiltje 008

My mother gave me this sits fabric ones with these beautiful borders. As you can see I used the smal borders in between. I'm going to use the large border as a finishing border. So to be continued again!

Sweaters and vests

I wonder, 'why were there so little comments on my last post?' (LOL), hi,hi,hi
It seems nobody wants to be tagged...

Since I'm making bags from vests and sweaters, I always search for nice (old)new ones. And people around me collect them with me!
And I'm starting to get a nice second hand collection!Sweaters to make new fantastic bags!
And as I showed in my last post, I made this bag from an old Oilily sweater.

spring bag

This bag gives me a springtime feeling! And today it felt like spring is on it's way! Oh, I can't wait... we had enough grey days! We want to feel the sun!

And yesterday while I was going through these....

tassen 068

To start a new bag-design...
..it seemed I have the "matroushka disease" Instead of making a bag from another sweater I made this....

tassen 048

I made something else but that remains a secret!

A fast week

Sometimes a week has gone by before you know! This is one of those weeks. I planned to do a lot of sewing on my matroushka's but it didn't work out!
There were long day's at school, the art-exhibition (about African art)....

klassefoto's extra1 klassefoto's 057

Here you see a few things the younger kids made.
The whole school has been working on this project and it's too much to show, but it was a great succes!

.... helping with homework and I had to help my 11 year old doughter a little, she made her own carnival costume this week! (Madame the Pompadour)

carnaval 046

The front, with the make-up on looks much better, but she didn't want her face on the blog.

But somehow I did manage to get started with these fabrics,

And made these...

What's in a box 017

What's in a box 021

Wel I'm going to fetch my kids from school, they have their carnival feast this afternoon. I hope they had a lot of fun being Madame the pompadour and a soldier.

Matroushka's

Becouse my youngest had the flu, I couldn't do much else than make little matrouska's and stay near by.
By the time he was a little better I had a full box with little matroushka's.

matroushka's

I know, I told you (in my last post) it would be a little quilt....
But it turned out a little different. As you can see!

matroushka's

While I was making them, each little matroushka got her own purpose.

There is the little messenger matroushka:

matroushka's matroushka's

The little perfume matroushka:

matroushka's matroushka's

The little key hanger Matroushka and a brooch matroushka:

matroushka's matroushka's

And there are the gift bottle matroushka and the cabinet doorhanger matroushka:

matroushka's matroushka's

I stil want to make a little matroushka quilt! My mom gave me these beautiful old Dutch sits-cotton.

matroushka's

(Den Haan en Wagenmakers)Which she bought in the store by Olga Prins.

Don't you Think they'll look gorgeous as little matroushka's.... to be continued!
