Hello Birds, tutorial

In our class in school we made birdhouses and birds with the children,

needle felt bird in lovely house

My colleague made the beautiful houses with them,

And I needlefelted the birds with the children.

They are really nice and easy to make! So here is a tutorial;

You'll need,

Needle felt wool, feathers, a little piece of red felt fabric and a feltneedle,

first make a little cocoon,

Than take the feltneedle and poke up and down till the cocoon (bird body) is a bit firm.

Now choose a different color for the wings and poke them to the body. One on each side.

Take the scissors and make a cut on one side of the body.(the butt)

Choose a feather and put it in the little hole (the butt). Than poke a bit on the wool to make the feather tight.

For the eyes you can use beads or a dark color of wool.

The last thing you have to do is take the small piece of red felt fabric
and cut out the beak of the bird. Sew it on the front, and the bird is finished!

I know my English is poor but I hope the tutorial was clear?

Have fun making this little bird for yourself or with children!

What's in a box: 2

I told you about being busy these weeks, and I am!! But I'm so addicted to blogging! I had to make a little message, so... here is my second "What's in a box" (tin)item.

It was hard to pick a box, but this one has special felted mandala's in it.

I enjoyed making these so much!! I can make these all the time.

This is a 6 star mandala. I think they look good and they feel so soft......

This is a nine star mandala.
..but there they are... in this box(tin)...and I don't know what to do with them??

Maby some of you have a good idea? Or, (and I'm o.k. with that idea,) I will treasure them a little longer in this box (tin)!

New Item

Hello again,

Most of you probably seen the new item my sister introduced on her blog. It's called "what's in the box". I think it's a great item. In my family we all have lot's of boxes filled up with 'work in progress'. As a child I'd love to peek in all the boxes our mother piled up in our house.

But today I want to share withe you my first "what's in the box" item. Every autumn I open this box to get the little gnome's and dwarf's out, which I made a few years ago. The children always love playing whith them. They give autumn a fairy-like feeling. Each year the collection grows. Yesterday I made this toadstool.I made it from wool whith a dry felt technique. I buy the pattern's for the gnomes and dwarf's in this store; de vuurvogel . There also are great internet store's like de witte engel where I like to get inspired.
