I have these 3 cute boxes and I want to show what's in the smallest one,
As a kid I loved to punnik (don't know if I say it right in English?)
The one with the brown thread on his head used to be mine.. I think.
I love how they seem to talk to each other.
(lol, guess it doesn't make any sence at all)
Groetjes,

Punnikken is spool knitting in English, I think!
I loooooove the little boxes. Since moving to the Netherlands, I've been sucked into buying quite a lot of them! They're hard to resist :-)
No, "French knitting".
Anything foreign was called French at one time!! (apart from Dutch Courage, lol!)
It is also called "French knitting" in English. You have a lovely collection of French Knitting spools!
Wat lief! Hoe ben je ooit aan zulke mooie oude punnikken popjes gekomen? Deed dit ook als kind maar weet echt niet meer hoe. Jammer toch.
Gefeliciteerd met de stofjes. Mooi zijn ze. En ik koop ook weleens een quilt. Daar kunnen we ook goed van genieten. Je kamer is erg gezellig! Lekker toch z'n houtkachel. We hebben er ook een.
Hugs en groetjes ~

Die dozen vind ik leuk! En laat ik nou ook zo'n klein verzamelingetje punnikklosjes hebben!
Love those boxes!!
Aaahhhhh, want een leuke Familie Punnik!
It's so so cute!!!
The box and knitting spools!
Just Darling.
What a sweet collection! I had one as a child called "Knitting Nancy" but I think spool knitting is the term we used.
My Dutch grandmother used to make those for me out of the wooden spools and four nails, so they were never as elaborate as yours. I love your little collection! I have always called this 'corking' or 'spool knitting'.
Nice boxes! In germany the litte knitting something is called "Strickliesel" funny isn´t it?
I like your blog and the dutch colours.
best wishes!

Hi Heleen! In Canada, we called it Spool Knitting, as they usually used the larger wooden spools with four nails in the top! My Dad taught me how to Spool Knit many year ago!! Lovely boxes, by the way!!!
Cheers! Mary Ann
They're sweet! They do have a bit of personality to them, don't they?
