What shall I wear? 3.

You must think, ‘she has been walking around in flower underwear the past days’… (since my last post). Yes I did …almost… I just couldn’t pick the right clothes…
But today it was really easy! We went for a autumn forest walk with all the children in my class. So I choose this,

what shall I wear?

And a raincoat,

what shall I wear?

luckily I didn’t need. The weather was just great! So was the walk! Young kids are so curious and open-minded look what they found;

'kijk juf, wat een mooie paddenstoel'

how does the toadstool look on the underside

How does the toadstool look on the underside... and where did the gnomes go?

underside toadstool

In class the children made these autumn artworks,

toadstools made in my class by 5 year old

autumn tree made in my class by 5 year old

Oh, how I enjoy my job and all these children!

I made a pattern of the ‘What shall I wear’ quilt, and just this week I had one of those ‘can’t sleep’ nights and look what is happening now…

what shall I wear?

Yes I started making stitchery’s now! A perfect job for dark autumn evenings (and a fast result).

Wish you all great autumn days!

What shall I wear? 2.

“Hmm, what shall I wear today?” Of course it is very important to start with the right underwear.

What shall I wear ? 2 .underwear

So I go for the flowered set today ….. and now, do I want a dress or trousers or overalls ?….. I have to think a little longer…..
Curious? …more next time.

Look what a great gift Elizabeth from ‘creative breathing’ send me!!
She makes the most beautiful creative work, and she made this matroushka for me.

Someone recently asked me when I started making creative things?
I can’t remember the first time I made something. My mother was always busy making creative works with her sewing machine and using all sort of materials. And as a small child I’d like to be around her making things to.
I even don’t know what I created first but when I was about 7 years old the Dutch Sinterklaas (santa) gave me my first sewing machine. A Singer,

sept. 08 038

Since I was a real doll mommy, I spent many ours making little skirts, shawls etc. on this sewing machine! And I collected every fabric I could find.
As a little girl I often went with my mom to a great-aunt. And on one time I found an old hand- sewing machine, full of dust, in her shed. Lucky me, she said, ‘you found it, so you can have it’!

sept. 08 033

My mom cleaned and greased it. I learned to sew on it! The great thing is that it belonged to my great-great-grandmother.

sept. 08 040

You see her here in the middle on her 50th wedding anniversary. She got it when she married in the year 1900!
Later my mom allowed me to sew on her big fast Pfaff . And when I married I had my own Pfaff. You see down here.

sept. 08 167

On this dear mashine I spend many ours, and today I finished these 3 new autumn bag's! (I'll show more on my next post.)

Well, this was a little of my sewing history.
I wish you all a good start of the week!

Books and bags

Whauw, time flighs when your having fun! (or being very busy)
When I was at the library my eye saw these books in a little corner,

boek phpThumb

Now most of you quilters are probably familiar with all the story's and books she wrote. But for me they are new and after finishing the first, I am curious what will happen in the next 'Elm Creek' quilters! But I only allow myself to read before sleeping or my new bags will not be finished before autumn.
Here a peek of the new bags....

sept. 08 004

I want to make three bags in this style.

And at last I want to show you this,

sept. 08 002

Because there was a discount of 50% I also bought this,

sept. 08 001

They are great to complete my matroushka collection! Altough, is a collection ever complete?

Have a great week everyone,

What vintage woman need....

Hello everyone,
Since I'm still verry busy with all the ingredients from my previous post...

... I want to show two things a vintage woman can not miss in her daily life;

first off all we need a little purse,

vintage embroidery purse

vintage embroidery purse

And second, in that purse we have, most important, a little nose powder set.

vintage nose powder

a different powder for every occasion,

vintage nose powder

for going to the office,

vintage nose powder

or to a destinguished dinner. One does need to powder!

vintage nose powder

well, if you'll excuse me now... I have to powder my nose... and get back to my ingredients.
